Boxborough, MA – 3/29/2022  – SynQor®, Inc., a leading supplier of power conversion solutions, announces a new “Constant Current Overload Protection” output model for the DC output Shallow Rack Military Field-Grade Power Conditioner.  The feature allows the output to be directly connected to the terminals of a lead-acid battery used with 28 V vehicle power system as defined by MIL-STD-1275D.  This allows vehicle electronics to be powered from an external AC or external DC source.  The output voltage is user selectable between 22 and 33 Vdc to match the nominal voltage of the vehicle lead-acid battery.  The unit automatically detects if the vehicle lead-acid battery has been deep-discharged, and will enter a Constant Current Constant Voltage (CCCV) charge sequence.  The current limit is fixed at 47 A, making it capable of charging high amp-hour batteries typically used in military vehicles.  The “Top Off Voltage” and “Top Off Time” can be adjusted to match the CCCV profile of the vehicle battery.  When the output is disabled, the MPC-1250 will draw less than 2 uA from the vehicle battery to prevent self-discharge.  The output is protected from all spikes and surges defined by MIL-STD-1275D.  The output is also reverse polarity protected to -60 V.  The unit is able to operate in current limit indefinitely. While the current demand exceeds 47 A, the unit behaves as a constant current source.  The current limit feature can be used to charge near infinite capacitive loads.

Multiple units can be paralleled to deliver a higher power, fully regulated DC output voltage. An inter-unit communication link allows multiple units to behave as a single system while delivering higher combined power or providing a fully N+M redundant system.

The MPC system includes features that allow remote tracking of the unit’s systems via the industry standard SNMP or an intuitive GUI driven web interface. The users can track various operational parameters like the output and input parameters, temperature, fan speed and much more.

The Shallow Rack MPCs have been designed to meet several of the most demanding electrical military standards, including MIL-STD-1275D, MIL-STD-704F, MIL-STD-1399-300B and MIL-STD-461F.  The MPC has electrically superior characteristics to many power supplies of its kind and has been designed to comply with the harshest environmental conditions as required by MIL-STD-810G while remaining compact and ultra-light.

  • MCOTS-C-270-40-FE

    MCOTS-C-270-60-FE

    • 1000 W
    • Variable Output Range (10-40 or 25-60 VDC)
    • Unlimited Load Capacitance or Battery Load

Boxborough, MA – SynQor, Inc., announces the latest additions to its Mil-COTS 270 Vin DC-DC product line.  These new compact, high efficiency, high power, full brick DC-DC converters are based on SynQor’s next generation, isolated, fixed frequency synchronous rectifier technology.  The impressive power density of the modules helps optimize space in an industry where space is at a premium.  The MIL-STD-704 compliant converters are able to down convert a 155-425 V input voltage range to an adjustable output between10-40 Vdc for the MCOTS-C-270-40-FE or 25-60 Vdc for the MCOTS-270-60-FE

These converters also have an adjustable current limit feature that allows them to power unlimited capacitive loads or a battery.  When the load current demand is above the set current limit, the unit behaves as a constant current source delivering constant current independent from the output voltage.  When operating below the set current limit, the unit behaves as a regulated voltage source delivering a fixed regulated voltage to the load.  The designer can select the output voltage through trim resistors or by adjusting the voltage into the voltage set pin.  The converter is designed to provide extremely high-power conversion at high efficiency throughout the entire output power range.  The low power dissipation characteristics of these encased bricks allow designers to deliver full power to the load at baseplate temperatures as a high as 95 °C.

The highly flexible encased modules, designed to operate in the harshest military conditions, are well suited for application like radar/pulsed loads, battery charging, electronic warfare, RF power amplifiers, solid state lasers, UAV/UUVs, rotary wing applications and much more.   The converters also include an advanced set of features like serial communication for module configuration and monitoring, integrated active current share for paralleling applications, an external clock synchronization to improve EMI performance and a battle short feature that overrides the over-temperature shutdown feature in case the designer needs to continue to operate the unit past its intended temperature range.  SynQor’s field proven, highly reliable technology shortens design cycles and helps designers/integrators yield reliable, dependable solutions for the very competitive military markets.

    • Balanced 115 Vrms, 3-Phase Input, 750-Watt Isolated PFC
    • High Power, High Efficiency, Full Brick Compact Solution
    • Wide Input Frequency Range 47-800 Hz
    • Isolated Outputs of 12, 24, 28, 48 or 54 VDC

Boxborough, MA – SynQor, Inc., announces its new military–grade, isolated, 3-phase Power Correction Module (MPFIC).  This module is designed to meet ground, shipboard and aircraft military standards (MIL-STD-704 (A-F), MIL-STD-461 (C-F), MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-810G and RTCA DO-160G).  The 115 Vrms MPFIC draws balanced input currents within ±1% from a source and delivers an isolated 750 W output at 24, 28, and 54 Vdc or 720 W at 12 and 48 Vdc.  MIL-STD 1399-300B requires that all the phase currents be balanced to within ±5% for ships and ±3% for submarines. MIL-STD-704 requires a lagging power factor.  The unit has a slight lagging active power factor correction feature so that when working in conjunction with the MCOTS AC line filter, the system is able to draw a nearly perfect sinusoidal current at a near unity power factor from the source (PF>0.99) even at loads as low as 200 W and an input frequency of 400 Hz.  The MPFIC has superb Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 2.5% at output power levels above 200 W.  The unit’s wide frequency range allows it to seamlessly operate in ground, shipboard or aircraft applications.  The power conversion efficiency of this compact, full-brick size, military-grade module is as high as 92.5%.  The 115 Vrms “delta” input connected PFC is able to operate seamlessly at frequencies as low as 47 Hz and as high as 800 Hz.  In addition, the output is offered as either fully-regulated or droop shared for paralleling applications.

As stated, the 3-phase isolated PFC module is designed for military ground, naval and aerospace applications.  This encased military-grade component is designed to meet shock/vibration and environmental conditions as specified by MIL-STD-810G.  This brick is able to deliver full power over a wide baseplate temperature range (-55 to 100 °C).

The PFC includes a variety of status signals, a RS-232 serial interface, an output “Enable” control pin and a “Battle-Short” pin.  The module provides the AC_GOOD and DC_GOOD control signals to allow designers to quickly evaluate the status of the unit.  Detailed statistics of the converter can be accessed through a 9,600 baud serial interface. The output of the module may also be enabled or disabled through the “Enable” pin.  The unit comes with a “Battle Short” pin that allows users to override potential shutdowns due to an over temperature or input phase drop event.  SynQor's products have a proven record not only of satisfying military specifications, but of going above and beyond these specifications to deliver the most efficient and dependable solutions in the market.
